Anton Kling's “Ascension” serves as his follow-up to the mesmerizing “Moirae”, but this time he has crafted an experience that makes us feel as if we're gracefully rising skyward.
I love how he has kept it quite simple and straightforward when it comes to the melodic structure of the track as those three chords, along with the thick layer of pads guiding them are able to evoke such strong emotions. Lurking far in the backdrop are these haunting vocal snippets that give the track a dark edge, but overall we're welcomed to a listening experience that rather feels fierce and atmospheric.
