Hard to believe we’re down to only one episode left for this season, but hey, stranger things have happened. Quite strange indeed. After all betcha you never thought elves could be capable of righteous jealousy, but here with Ariane proving her race wrong. Something tells me this girl needs to get something off her chest, especially before Ponta winds up spilling the details.
Although I’m a broken record at this point, oh how I love how Skeleton Knight goes about indulging in its banter. Ariane of course is case in point (never thought I’d see that reaction from her), but even Ponta in all his fluffy glory just has a way of defining his presence. Arc gearing up to kick ass? Oh we’re all in on spectating that. Food up for offer? Don’t mind if I do so with maximum cuteness. And if that wasn’t enough he also has a remarkable knack for playing the straight man to Arc’s comedic ignorance. I always forget about the furball’s antics at times, but they really help liven the mood and keep this show being fun – and you cannot go wrong with that approach.
On the more serious side of matters is the bony boy finally coming face to face with the mastermind behind this season’s animal encounters, and lo and behold it turned out exactly as expected. While our resident beast tamer is a write-off nobody in the end and only a pitstop on the way to meeting the true villain, it’s still an absolute treat just watching Arc effortlessly cleave his way through the challenge and nonchalantly gear up to do the same for the next multiheaded animal encounter. Simple in hindsight, materially skin deep, yet sufficiently entertaining, particularly when you pair the shenanigans with friendly kemonomimi ninja support (Chiyome best girl, period). I don’t anticipate any serious changes to the script in the final episode outside of future arc teasers, but that doesn’t mean it still won’t be fun to see.
After all, who knows if a surprise sequel announcement is awaiting us in the close.
